Step 1: Beginning October 1, 2019, you may complete the 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  The suggested method is to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool on the FAFSA to upload all 2018 federal tax information directly from the IRS website.  Your financial aid awards cannot be finalized until you complete your FAFSA with accurate federal tax information.

Step 2:  After October 1, 2019, you may complete the 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to upload all 2018 tax information from the IRS into the FAFSA. Your financial aid awards cannot be finalized until you complete your FAFSA with accurate federal tax information either by using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool or entering the information manually.

Step 3: For the 2020-2021 year, students who are selected for a process for verification will be asked to follow up with KHEAA Verify at KHEAA.com

The Department of Education has selected your FAFSA for a process called verification. This process must be completed in order for Warren Wilson College (WWC) Financial Aid Office to determine your eligibility for federal student aid for the award year 2020-2021. The purpose of the verification process is to validate the accuracy of information provided on the FAFSA.  WWC partners with Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) to help you complete the verification process.

KHEAA will send an e-mail to the e-mail address the student and the parent listed on their FAFSA. You should watch for emails from verification@kheaa.com with instructions on what the student and parent need to do to create a MyKHEAA account (both student and parent must have separate log on information).

If the parent or student has questions, please call KHEAA’s verification services at 855-272-8771 or email your questions to verification@kheaa.com.

Step 3: A final award of scholarships, grants, work, and student loans will be made once the FAFSA and any other requested documents have been received and reviewed by the Financial Aid Office. Financial Aid awards for returning students for the 2020-2021 academic year will begin in March.

Reminder, Financial Aid will check your official SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) status at the end of each semester.  This may result in a revision of your financial aid.

Step 4: Once an award is finalized, the student must make a decision to accept or decline all aid offered including any loan offered.  The acceptance of aid is done on the Accept Awards tab of Net Partner. If you borrowed student loans at Warren Wilson College last academic year you do not need to complete a new MPN and entrance counseling.

If you are a new student loan borrower for 2020-2021 (meaning you have never borrowed student loans at Warren Wilson College before), you must complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling online at studentloans.gov in addition to accepting aid on Net Partner.

Step 5: Students may contact the Financial Aid Office by calling or texting 828-771-2082. Email address: finaid@warren-wilson.edu. The Financial Aid Office is located on the first floor of Laursen.
