Step 1: Beginning October 1, 2018, you may complete the 2019-2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The suggested method is to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool on the FAFSA to upload all 2017 federal tax information directly from the IRS website. Your financial aid awards cannot be finalized until you complete your FAFSA with accurate federal tax information.
Step 2: Students whose FAFSA is selected for verification will be asked to follow up with the School Servicing Center or the Warren Wilson Financial Aid Office.
The Financial Aid Office at Warren Wilson College is partnering with the College Foundation of North Carolina and their School Servicing Center to streamline and expedite the verification process for students and parents. The federal processor will determine whether your FAFSA is selected for a process called verification. If you are selected for the verification process it simply means certain items on your FAFSA must be verified before we can finalize any of your awards.
If you are selected for verification and need to be processed by the School Servicing Center (SSC), you will see on the Pending Requirements tab of Net Partner, “Complete Verification with SSWCP”. The Financial Aid Office will notify the SSC and they will collect and process all verification documents. Watch for emails from firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com with instructions on what you need to do to complete the process. Please follow the instructions carefully. You will complete most or all of your verification by using the online verification interview on the “Student Tab” at SSCwp.org. You may also upload the required documents online. The School Servicing Center will notify the Warren Wilson Financial Aid Office once you have completed the verification process.
If you receive an e-mail from us stating that we need you to complete either “Verification Worksheet 4” or "Verification Worksheet 5”, please print the appropriate worksheet from our "Forms" section on the menu to the right. Follow the instructions on the paperwork and follow up with the Financial Aid Office.
Step 3: A final award of scholarships, grants, work, and student loans will be made once the FAFSA and any other requested documents have been received and reviewed by the Financial Aid Office. Financial Aid awards for returning students for the 2019-2020 academic year will begin in March.
Reminder, Financial Aid will check your official SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) status at the end of each semester. This may result in a revision of your financial aid.
Step 4: Once an award is finalized, the student must make a decision to accept or decline all aid offered including any loan offered. The acceptance of aid is done on the Accept Awards tab of Net Partner. If you borrowed student loans at Warren Wilson College last academic year you do not need to complete a new MPN and entrance counseling.
If you are a new student loan borrower for 2019-2020 (meaning you have never borrowed student loans at Warren Wilson College before), you must complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling online at studentloans.gov in addition to accepting aid on Net Partner.
Step 5: Students may contact the Financial Aid Office by calling 828-771-2082. Email address: firstname.lastname@example.org. The Financial Aid Office is located on the first floor of Laursen.
