Warren Wilson College participates in the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program which includes Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans, as well as PLUS Loans for Parents or Graduate Students. With Direct Loans the lender is the U.S. Department of Education rather than a bank or other lending institution.

In order to qualify for Federal Direct Subsidized, Unsubsidized, or Graduate PLUS Loans you must file the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can file electronically at Even if you feel that you will not qualify for need-based aid, please keep in mind that by filing the FAFSA, you will be eligible for the lower interest Direct Unsubsidized Loan.
