Help

Welcome to the Warren Wilson College Writing Studio!

We are a non-judgmental, focused, and productive place where any student may bring their scholarly or creative writing projects. We provide assistance in every step of the writing process, whether you want to brainstorm for a short paper or come in weekly to share portions of your senior capstone. Consider our assistants an extra set of eyes and ears that reach your work, and our studio a place to share ideas and get unstuck.

Tutoring Options for Online Classes

While Warren Wilson classes are being held online, Writing Studio faculty Julie Wilson and Jimena Novaro, along with peer tutors Leila Pellegrino and Ana Risano, will be available for online writing sessions with all Warren Wilson students. You have options for these sessions. You may send a draft of your work for written feedback, or you may schedule an hour session via video, audio, or text chatting. We may use google docs to collaborate on your pieces.

Have a quick question about citations, formatting, etc.? Send it to us!

How to Schedule Your Online Session

Watch this video for a quick overview of the Online Writing Studio. If you cannot find a time that works for you or if you have any trouble with the scheduling system described below, just email Julie Wilson at jwilson@warren-wilson.edu, or call or text me at 828-275-6911. Let me know when you're available, and I'll schedule a session for you.

Schedule your appointment through online appointment system here.

To schedule your session, go to our online appointment system: https://wwilson.mywconline.com/. If it's your first visit, you must first register for an account. When you are scheduling an appointment, you will see these two options:

1) With e-tutoring, we do not meet. Rather you upload your draft or send a google doc link, and at the end of the hour we will send you comments on the draft. Please also include your assignment prompt and any special requests for feedback (e.g., help with organization, grammar, thesis, etc.).

2) With online tutoring, we have an online meeting. You may share a draft with us or ask for help getting started. At the scheduled time, log into the system and click on the appointment you created. Then, click "Start or Join Online Conversation." You will see video, audio, and texting options, as well as a space for drafting. You may disable the video and/or audio if you prefer just texting.

3) Telephone: Although not listed as an option, we can also have the session by phone. Just select "online tutoring," and when asked what you hope to accomplish in the session, mention you want a telephone session.

Can't find a time that works with your schedule? Have other questions? Email Julie Wilson at jwilson@warren-wilson.edu, or call or text me at 828-275-6911.

We look forward to working with you!
