Welcome to the Warren Wilson College Writing Studio!
The Warren Wilson Writing Studio empowers students through individually tailored sessions devoted to idea exploration and writing techniques. We welcome writing from all fields of study. Our staff includes a director and a crew of peer writing assistants, who describe themselves as creative, collaborative, enthusiastic, professional, and resourceful community-builders. We break down power dynamics in our peer-centered writing sessions, using the time the way you want to use it. You can stay ten minutes to break down your professor’s assignment, or fifty minutes to get honest and respectful feedback on a draft. We also invite you to submit your work to Peal, Warren Wilson’s literary and art magazine.
In fall 2020, our work is evolving in new directions. In response to the racial justice movement, we are embarking on a process of increasing access and justice in our work; we’ll share updates on our website. In response to Covid-19, we are moving our sessions safely online. We maintain our commitment to flexibility. You can meet with someone online via video, audio, or chat; or you can send in your work for written feedback without meeting. Let’s talk about what works best for your situation.

To schedule your session, go to our online appointment system: https://wwilson.mywconline.com/. If it's your first visit, you must first register for an account. When you are scheduling an appointment, you will see these two options:
1) With Online Meetings, we meet online. You may share a draft with us or ask for help getting started. At the scheduled time, log into the system and click on the appointment you created. Then, click "Start or Join Online Conversation." You will see video, audio, and texting options, as well as a space for drafting.
2) With Written Feedback sessions, we do not meet. Rather you upload your draft or send a google doc link, and at the end of the hour we will send you comments on the draft. Please also include your assignment prompt and any special requests for feedback (e.g., help with organization, grammar, thesis, etc.).
3) Telephone: Although not listed as an option, we can also have the session by phone. Just select "Online Meeting," and when asked what you hope to accomplish in the session, mention you want a telephone session.
Can't find a time that works with your schedule? Have other questions? Email Julie Wilson at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call or text me at 828-771-5899.
