All Full-Time Undergraduate students must be covered by a health insurance policy during their enrollment.

Warren Wilson College has selected CIGNA as the provider of our required student health insurance policies -- and students are automatically enrolled in coverage. Students with their own coverage can waive the WWC coverage by completing the waiver (below).

Student bills are charged for the full year health insurance premium each Fall unless you complete a waiver. The charge will only be reversed if the online waiver is completed by the 9/21/2020 deadline.  Otherwise, the charge will stand and must be paid for the account to be clear, and the student will be automatically enrolled in the CIGNA policy.

If your waiver is approved in Fall 2020, you will not be charged or enrolled for the Spring 2021 Semester.  Students who are new for Spring 2021 will be charged and automatically enrolled in the Spring 20210policy unless they complete the Spring waiver by 2/8/2021.

The 20-21* premiums are as follows:

  • $632.00 in the fall for coverage from August 1st to December 31st
  • $875.00 in the spring for coverage for January 1st to July 31st  (Spring admits only)  
  • *annual rates subject to change

For information about the coverage, click here to view the 20-21 Insurance Benefits Flyer.  If you need your Student Insurance ID Card, please visit the Office of Student Life, located in Dodge House on central campus.  If you want the CIGNA policy, you do not need to do anything but pay your Fall bill; the premium is already charged and you will be enrolled in the plan.

Please note that students who already have health insurance coverage must waive the CIGNA policy online by providing proof of their alternate coverage.  If the waiver is approved by CIGNA, the billed health insurance premium cost will be reversed from their student account.

On the CHP site, choose “waive” and then create an account or log into your existing account (with your WWC email address) and follow the instructions.  If the CHP site asks you for the school code, that is your WWC Student ID number.  You will waive the coverage for the entire Academic Year. You will receive confirmation on the site that your application was accepted once you have provided all the necessary information.  It will take 2 to 10 days for your coverage to be verified by CIGNA, then you will receive an email that your waiver was approved or declined.  If approved, the charge will be removed from your account. If your waiver was approved for Fall, you will not need to complete a waiver for Spring.

If your waiver is declined, you will be covered by the CIGNA policy and the charge will stand.  For information about the coverage provided by CIGNA, please visit their website.

The deadlines for submitting the online waiver are:

  • Fall Semester: September 21, 2020 (This is a waiver for the entire Academic Year)
  • Spring Semester: February 8, 2021.  (For Spring enrollments only; if you completed a waiver for Fall 2020, you do not need to do a Spring 2021 waiver)
