A Message from President Morton: Summer Cancellations

After much discussion and careful consideration of the impact on attendees and guests at our wonderful, traditional summer programming and events, Warren Wilson College has determined that we must cancel ALL on-campus programs and events from mid-May through August. Typically, our campus is alive in the summer with music from the Swannanoa Gathering and the Carolina Chamber Music Festival and bustling with activity from summer camps, low residency Warren Wilson master’s programs, and other groups meeting in our beautiful mountain setting in the valley. It is hard to imagine a summer at Warren Wilson without music, writing, craft and friends on campus. However, the uncertainty about the trajectory of COVID-19 in the coming months and the likelihood of an extended stay-at-home order, along with concern about the health and safety of all who visit here, has led to the difficult realization that canceling events and taking our summer masters programs online is the responsible thing to do. Our campus will remain closed to the public until the beginning of our Fall term in late August. We eagerly look forward to resuming our summer activities in 2021.
