STEP 1: Complete the FAFSA

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online each year.  WWC urges students to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible.  Whenever possible, please use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool when completing the FAFSA. For returning students, our priority deadline for the 2024-2025 FAFSA is May 1st.

WWC FAFSA School Code:  002979

Gather the following applicable documents/information to complete the FAFSA

    • Social Security Number
    • Driver license
    • Alien registration number if you are not a U.S. citizen
    • Federal tax information including IRS W-2, tax returns, etc.

Step 2: Complete Pending Requirements

Pending requirements can be found on the Financial Aid Portal previously called Net Partner.

If you need assistance accessing your Financial Aid Portal, please contact the WWC Financial Aid Office.

Step 3: Financial Aid Offer

Returning students are offered financial aid late in the spring semester of each academic year.

The WWC Financial Aid Office will notify students by email when their personal financial aid offer is ready to be viewed in their Financial Aid Portal.

Step 4: Accept or Decline Federal Student Loans

Students will need to log in to the Financial Aid Portal and choose the "Financial Aid Offer" option from the menu on the top left.

Federal student loans are offered to those students who completed the FAFSA.

Students need to accept or decline each loan offer.

After making these selections, click "Submit" to finalize your offer.

Financial aid will not be disbursed until after the drop/add date of each semester. Please note some financial aid is based on enrollment in term classes.

STEP 5: Look for your Bill in Early June

After you have completed all the steps for your financial aid, the next step is to wait for your bill to be processed and made viewable on your myWWC portal.

Student Accounts will generate returning student bills, and you will be notified by email when your billing statement for the next semester is ready.

You will not receive a paper billing statement. You can view your billing statement online at anytime.

The payment deadline for the fall semester will be July 15th of each year.

The payment deadline for the spring semester will be December 15th of each year.

Preparing a Four-Year Financial Plan

It is important to understand the costs associated with obtaining a degree from Warren Wilson College.  Like most colleges, this generally leads to a cost increase each year, typically 3-5%. We encourage families to assume that these standard increases will occur each year and to plan accordingly. Additionally, students should plan on filling the FAFSA each year to determine eligibility for aid. The Financial Aid Office is here to help you and your family plan for your educational expenses. If you would like assistance with creating a four-year plan to assess your options for educational costs of attending Warren Wilson please reach out to our office at [email protected]

For helpful tips around financial literacy and paying for college you can check out information from the Department of Education.

Understand the Impact of Major Life Changes

Many families don't realize just how much significant life changes may impact their Financial Aid and the costs of attending college. We encourage all families to contact the Financial Aid Office for assistance in understanding the impact of major life changes. Examples of major life changes may include withdrawing money from a retirement account, marriage or divorce, high medical expenses, or an unexpected change in income. If these or other special circumstances are impacting your ability to afford Warren Wilson, please in touch with the Financial Aid Office.
